Artist Statement
Painting
is a replica of
life.
In life there are
three basic units:
the physical,
mental, and
spiritual. In
painting these are
referred to by the
artist as the
technical,
philosophical, and
aesthetic.
Within each aspect
of life and painting
there is a balance
developed by the
incidence
of opposites. This
balance determines
harmony
- the artist's
creative endeavor.
An artist has no
desire to convince
others to believe as
he or she but only
to continue in the
opportunity of
freedom and
responsibility to
share his vision.
Inspiration and
memory are highly
wrought as the
painter catches a
deep breath to give
thanks for the light
that lets him see
and for a moment to
set the painting
free.
The artist
continually works
and hopes to see
this true
and wonderful
essence revealed
upon the canvas.
This act of painting
and "visual
listening" cultures
a creative awareness
that allows me to
see the light, the
subject of my work.
