Artist Bio

Nationally and Internationally known artist Dennis T. Yates is best known for painting the delicate play of light.

He states, "Rendering life, with the wonder of light, fills my heart." This concept conveys an honest, sincere, and accurate suggestion of the reality of life in the current moment.

Dennis is not only an artist but a successful athlete as well. His playing football at Raytown High School in Missouri was instrumental in landing him a scholarship on the team at Northern Arizona University. In the summer of 1968, the US Army draft provided him an opportunity to serve his country as a paratrooper, photographer, and journalist for the 82nd Airborne Division.

Upon discharge, he continued his education at the University of Central Missouri and led the nationally ranked Mules football team, as all-star middle linebacker, to a successful season culminating in the Pecan Bowl Game in Arlington, Texas.

Upon completing a degree in art and physical education, he taught art and coached football at Raytown Junior High School, but his calling to express life as a painter remained foremost in his mind.

In 1973, he returned to his family's roots in the Ozarks to pursue a life long career as an accomplished artist. He remains grateful to his calling and to everyone who has taken part in collecting more than 3,000 paintings produced from his easel.
